Introduction

TheMotoManual is operated by an individual, not a company. This Privacy Policy explains what information TheMotoManual collects when you use the service, why, and which third parties help us process it.

What We Collect

Account information: the name and email address you use to register (via Better Auth), and a profile picture if you upload one.
Q&A history: the questions you ask and the answers TheMotoManual generates for you, including page/figure citations, stored as qa_message records tied to your account.
Garage entries: the motorcycle models you add to your garage (a motorcycle must be in your garage before you can ask about it).
Model requests: if you ask about a model we haven't ingested yet, we log the request so we know what to prioritize.
Newsletter subscription: when you register, your email address is automatically added to our newsletter mailing list, held by Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time under Settings → Notification.
Contact form messages: if you use our contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are emailed to our support address via Resend.

Voice audio is not stored

If you use voice input, your audio is sent for speech-to-text transcription and discarded immediately after — it is used only to produce the text of that single question and is never saved to disk or database. Voice playback (text-to-speech) of an answer is generated on demand and is likewise not stored.

Who Processes Your Data

We use the following third-party processors to run TheMotoManual. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.

Google Gemini	Generates the spoken audio for voice playback (text-to-speech)
Voyage AI (via OpenRouter)	Produces the text embeddings used to search manual pages
Neon	Hosts our PostgreSQL database (accounts, Q&A history, garage entries)
Cloudflare R2	Stores manual files, rendered manual page images, and profile pictures you upload
Vercel	Hosts the TheMotoManual web application
Resend	Sends transactional emails (e.g. verification, notifications) and contact-form messages, and holds our newsletter mailing list
Waffo Pancake	Processes payments as merchant of record when paid plans are offered; receives your email address and the order and payment details for your purchase. Card details are entered on Waffo's systems and never reach our servers
Google	Provides Google sign-in (OAuth); if you sign in with Google, we receive the email address and basic profile information of that account

How Long We Keep Data

Your Q&A history and garage entries are kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, these records are deleted along with it (cascading delete), as is the other data linked to your account in our database. A few things are not removed by account deletion: model requests you submitted are kept without any link to your account (only the brand, model, year and date remain); your email address stays on our newsletter mailing list at Resend; and a profile picture you uploaded stays in storage.

Your Rights

You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, or request deletion of your account and associated data, by emailing support@themotomanual.com. We will act on verified requests as promptly as we can.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. Changes take effect when posted on this page; the date above reflects the most recent revision.
